Haven't posted in a while

Wow, realized I haven't written anything new in the past few weeks. Since my last post, the New York sports scene has dramatically changed. Some highlights:
  • The Giants proved me wrong and hired Perry Fewell as their Defensive Coordinator. I like this move, and Fewell seems ready to step into his new role.
  • Pitchers and catchers for the Yankees reported to Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, FL for Spring Training 2010. The big question in Yankees camp is what to do with the 5th starter slot. Hughes/Chamberlain? Mitre/Gaudin/Aceves? I'm a fan of Hughes in this spot, as he has shown some real promise with his stuff (Check out this early game against the Rangers, in which Hughes had a no-hitter going until he was hurt in the 7th inning). Chamberlain proved that he was born to be in the set-up role for Mo, and I think he would perform best here. Mitre/Gaudin are great options for long relief or spot starts, and Aceves proved that he was great in middle relief last season.
  • Johan Santana, Jose Reyes, and the rest of the walking wounded showed up to Port St. Lucie for Spring Training. Santana foolishly stated that he is the best pitcher in the NL East. Better than Roy Halladay? Cole Hamels? Yeah, stay healthy and we'll talk, Joho.
  • The Knicks made the moves they needed to make, shedding Krypto-nuisance, Jared Jeffries' wallet, Jordan Hill, and Larry Hughes for Tracy McGrady, Eddie House, JR Giddens, and Bill Walker (all expiring contracts). Now all that Knicks fans can do is sit and twiddle their thumbs until July 1, 2010 (only 129 days, 2 hours, 31 minutes away).
  • Islanders and Rangers are off for the Olympics (BTW Congrats to Bode Miller on winning his medals in Vancouver after a rough patch, including almost retiring altogether.)

That's all for now. I'll try and update more. Please pass along to your friends, colleagues, classmates, housewives, and mistresses (thanks Eldrick)
